Technical Education

Technical Education
Technical education is the education which gives special skills in some subjects. It means theoretical and practical knowledge in using machines and instruments. We not only get the theoretical knowledge about some subjects but also know how to handle the machines to produce various things. Technical education is the reverse of academic education. In academic education, we get only the theoretical knowledge. We do not get practical knowledge. Civil, mechanical, chemical, electrical and telecommunication engineering, agriculture, mining, weaving, pottery are some examples of technical education.
In ancient time artesian produced things with the help of their hands. They could not produce large quantities of goods. The cost of production was also comparatively higher. But due to the progress of science, improved machines have been invented. With the help of such machines, artesian can manufacture large quantities of goods.  The present is the age of machines. The western countries of the world have progressed because of the knowledge of technical education.
Technical education helps for the progress of the country. A country can prosper in the fields of agriculture, industry, transport and communications and other developmental fields by the help of technical education. Technicians can follow the improved methods of agriculture and produce better and big quantities of crops. They can operate machines in the industries and can manufacture large quantities of goods. They can operate telephones and wireless sets. They can construct the bridges, roads, factories, canals etc. They can drive cars, fly aero planes. Technicians can help for the progress of each developmental activity.
Technical education helps the nation to be self-dependent. If we do not have adequate technicians, we have to bring the technicians from other countries and we have to pay a lot of money for them. If other countries do not provide such man-powers, our developmental activities will be stopped. In our country May developmental activities are stopped due to the loss of adequate technicians.
Technical education solves the problem of unemployment. There is the demand of different kinds of technicians in the fields of agriculture, industry, transport, and communication, health, engineering etc. Technicians can be absorbed in such developmental fields. If such technicians cannot get job, they can’t stand on their own legs. They can undertake their personal works. They do not have to ho from door to door for employment.
Nepal is still backward in every developmental field. They main reason for this is the lack of technical man-power. There are few technical schools and colleges in our country. So most of us have got academic education. There are many unemployed people who have academic education. On the other hand, there is the want of technical man-powers in many developmental fields. So it has been a high time to open many technical schools and colleges. It helps to solve the problem of unemployment and supplies the nation with technical man-power in developmental fields.
